"Masterpieces of Handicrafts"

"There's something deeply satisfying about shaping something with your hands."

"HANDICRAFT MASTERPIECES"

The innovation will be implemented in the school year 2021/2022 (continuation in the school year 2022/2023).Handicraft is a combination of arts and crafts. The creation of artistic crafts should be treated as an expression of cultural heritage. In the past, handicrafts were associated as a folk product having primarily the features of the culture in which it was created. Now, however, the word has broadened its meaning. Handmade – another name for handicrafts taken from the English language is currently a very popular form of action, which is used by many people with an artistic flair. This artistic flair, manual skills, patience, accuracy, imagination, creativity, as well as the ability to uniquely and uniquely combine various artistic and natural materials are the features that should be characterized by an artist – a craftsman. One of the forms of therapy for people with intellectual disabilities is occupational therapy involving participation in artistic workshops. The question arises whether people with intellectual disabilities are able to cope with such a challenge as handicrafts? Every living person has certain limitations, but also possibilities. Every person, including the intellectually disabled, has such possibilities. So there are no people with intellectual disabilities who would not have any advantages, no skills, even potential. The most important thing is to discover these strengths of the individual, and then carefully nurture and stimulate them. Our pedagogical innovation meets the expectations and needs of students of the Special School preparing for work and participants of the Community Self-Help House in Tomaszkowice. It will consist in conducting joint workshops on creating spatial forms using various handicraft methods. They will enable the development of manual skills through the use of many handicraft techniques. Participants will look for inspiration for their works in tradition or historical forms, models, decorations and styles. Participation in the workshops will affect the creative development of the participants and the individual expression of their artistic expression. During the classes, we will try to make the created objects unique, to be original and have their own style.
