Patchwork – the unusual art of combining

Traditional patchwork is a sewing method consisting in sewing small pieces of fabrics with geometric shapes into one whole – its effect is a completely new pattern. Patchwork works were the subject of the next meeting as part of the innovation "Masterpieces of handicraft", which took place in the hospitable thresholds of the artistic studio "Sztuka Łączenia" in Krakow. Before we tried our hand at sewing patchwork bags, we listened carefully to the instruction of Mrs. Ania on the safe operation of the sewing machine. Already after a few attempts we knew perfectly well how to start the machine, what a foot is, how to cut the thread quickly, what types of stitches can be made and how quickly fabrics can be stitched (some preferred sewing at "slow" speeds, some definitely express …). Then it was great fun – first composing patterns of our bags, and then sewing individual elements. At the end, Mrs. Ania helped in sewing the "tunnel" and fixing the ribbons to tie the bag. The effect of our work was impressive! We will definitely come back to this extraordinary studio, which so wonderfully combines fabrics and … People.
