"GOOD START"
(financial support in the amount of PLN 300 per child studying at school)
Who is entitled to the "Good Start" benefit?
The "Good Start" benefit is granted once a year for children up to the age of 20 who start the school year. Children with disabilities attending school will receive them until the age of 24. Disabled children participating in rehabilitation-and-education classes will receive a benefit from the age of 7 until the end of classes. The benefit is not granted to children of pre-school age and those completing one-year school preparation (pre-school). Support will be provided regardless of family income.
How to get the "Good start" benefit?
To receive support, you must submit an application. This can be done by the child's mother or father, legal guardian or actual guardian of the child, and in the case of children in foster care – by a foster parent, a person running a family children's home or the director of a care and education institution.
Where to apply?
Applications for benefits will be accepted and implemented by the same institutions that currently provide child-raising benefits under the "Family 500+" program, i.e. the city/commune office, social welfare center or other organizational unit (e.g. benefit center) competent for the place of residence of the parent applying for the benefit (in the case of a child in foster care, the benefits will be provided by the District Family Support Center).
When to apply?
The application, similarly to applications for parental benefit from the "Family 500+" programme, can be submitted from 1 July on-line via the website of the Ministry of Family empatia.mrpips.gov.pl or via electronic banking, and from 1 August by traditional (paper) means.
The application must be submitted by November 30.
When will the family receive help?
In the case of applications submitted in July and August, the family will receive the benefit no later than September 30. In the case of applications submitted in subsequent months, municipalities will have a maximum of 2 months from the date of submission of the application to consider it and pay the benefit.
