Sports Festival

The Sports Festival is an event organized for children with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities – students from special education centers in the Malopolska Region. Thanks to many years of cooperation with the Sports and Recreation Center of the Cracow University of Technology, it takes place annually in the PK sports hall at Kamienna Street in Krakow. The Sports Festival is a unique event with a deep message, which certainly contributes to breaking social barriers and stereotypes in the perception of people with intellectual disabilities. It gives participating children the opportunity to compete in sports, integrate with their peers and creates a chance to gain positive experiences. These experiences are friendship, empathy, the ability to cooperate and enjoy the fact that you can do something together with colleagues, a sense of agency or finally taking care of your image as a player. Participation in this event shapes many valuable character traits in children, such as stubbornness in pursuing goals, the ability to compete nobly, or accepting failure, so often in sport. Thanks to the kindness of many people and institutions, we have managed to organize the 15th edition of the Sports Festival so far.
